I have had a unique situation and have had a hard time getting a diagnosis. I spent over a year working with another well respected Atlanta GI doctor and finally found Dr. Steinberg. I have the utmost respect for him and am so happy to have found him. He has done more for me in the past several months than other doctors have done over a year or 2. He is very knowledgeable, explains things in a manner I can understand, has been very aggressive in finding and treating my disease and is sympathetic to the pain and issues I suffer from. He is easy to get an appointment with, easy to talk to and communicate with and extremely responsive. He has even been known to call to give results and check on me on a Saturday morning. My previous GI doctor never called back and was very hard to talk to. Dr. Steinberg always wants to know what he can do and how he can help. I am not crazy about taking too many pain meds but sometimes you need them. While other doctors have not given them to me and have forced me to suffer needlessly, Dr. Steinberg makes sure that I am as comfortable as I can be and allows me some pain relief though in a responsible way. I have been seeing him for 6 months now and cannot say enough positive things about him. The other person who posted said that he had a poor bedside manner. I just spent over 3 weeks in the hospital under his care and did not see that at all. He has a good sense of humor and can be sarcastic but I think that is a positive and breaks up the monotony. If you are suffering from any GI illness and need to find a doctor......I would highly recommend Dr. Steinberg and would say that you could have the utmost confidence in both him and his staff.
