Comments for Dr. Dallas VA Medical Center
Overall the VA system is the worst the USA has to offer. Many of the doctors are trained in places other than the USA and do not have skills we expect from our doctors. The doctors spend most of the visits scolding the patients for something. They accuse the patients of being liers and treating them like an stupid slob. One example of the VA's speed is when I transferred to Dallas from Florida it took over one year to receive oxygen for my breathing problems. I was diagnosed for this problem by the VA in FL. and it is in my records but it still took over a year before I actually received any oxygen treatment. My poor treatment does not stand alone. The patients at any VA will have horror stories like mine or worse. A large part of the doctor staff are from foreign natiions and did not recieve the training that US doctors receive. Many doctors do not even speak english well enough to communicate with the patients. The treatment from one hospital to another is so different that it makes the patient feel like he has different medical problems. The staff at the VA hospitals are so 'OVER STAFFED & UNDER WORKED' that we call the hospital a retirement center that pays them instead of the other way. Many patients are very old and senile and still the staff treats them like third class humans. It's almost like they want the old vets to just 'die off'. I realize how this sounds like one unhappy vet but if anyone took a unbias in depth look at the VA system they would find way to many horror stories. I have had friends go into the hospital for minor treatment and come out in a body bag. NO, I am not being overly dramatic. Honestly, this is not the way to treat the men and women after they risk their lives or receive serious wonds while protecting this nation. I am well aware of many so-called investigations into the VA system that reveal nothing but than again these investigations are run by the same government that controlls these hospitals. An unbias and secret investigation needs to be performed in at least ten hospitals from all corners of the US to really see the truth. The investigater should pose as a patient and not a sight seerer. Pick ten men and women and transfer them to different hospitals and take very good notes. A look see like this would show the realVeterans Health Care in this country. This is a much needed area to investigate. Thank you in advance, Jim |
