Comments for Dr. Eric Trehus
I have half a decade experience with this doctor. I had a very painful bone crushing bike accident. Dr Trehus told me I did not need a cast. I was shocked but I obeyed my doctor.
Three days after the accident he never listened when I pointed to painful area near where my neck meets my shoulder. He reached behind me and pushed in my shoulder blade and asked me if I had some discomfort there to which I said yes but it wasn't my main or biggest pain. I later learned from my records he wrote down I had bursitis which is helpeful to know but did not explain the biggest pain and the bursitis is nothing a muscle relaxant and some ibuprofen won't alleviate.
He refused to refill my prescription of tylenol 3 the earlier dr had prescribed, the one who splinted me and scheduled me for the casting appointment where I saw Dr Eric Todd Trehus. I delayed a vacation just to get to that CASTING APPOINTMENT where trehus did not cast me. Shortly thereafter I had horrible shooting pains down to my middle two fingers.
9 months later apparently my complaining had been enough to finally warrant a prescription of ultram/tramadol that I asked for by name. I brought in a family member as well to help pressure him because I did not feel he was doing enough for me. He never gave me therapy and everyone else I have ever asked since any major accident has had therapy but apparently this isn't Dr Trehus's way. I did not know this at the time.
In the meantime Trehus was not available once and I got another replacement dr who gave me Robaxin, a muscle relaxant. And it helped, in fact now it is 8 years later and I live on it amongst other things. Trehus rewrote the prescription for a larger dose probably to get credit for it and the larger dose makes me too tired so I adapted by only taking it night at first.
Also in the meantime, despite my complaints to Dr Eric Todd Trehus of abdominal pains, my gullbladder went out. Dr Schlaefer operated on me, literally saving my life as well as from the incompetence of Dr Trehus doing nothing. Apparently Dr Trehus thinks he should get paid for doing next to nothing. But he is a charismatic man who will tell you all kinds of stories including how he had a 55 foot tall fall when he worked construction while studying to be a dr which really had me believing he would cure me. He was just blowing smoke up my ass.
So in the hospital I was given percocet which took away my back pain I had from the bike accident. So later I asked for them. Trehus still never even took a single X ray of my shoulder or neck where all my pain was. I basically had to become my own Dr.
Finally I complained about him by letter to HP. This is worth doing. This is your only way out of trouble. He yelled and complained that 'I have not had a complaint in two years!' and once out of the office I thought about that and I realized it had been TWO YEARS since my accident. Apparently he was not thinking straight at that time in his. Who knows if he has ever learned to think straight since.
I asked for an MRI of the shoulder. Finally, after almost half a decade I received some information, only it was severely downgraded to tendinosis. I know it was torn and should have been repaired after the accident. I remain in chronic pain and on fentanyl patches and oxycodone and muscle relaxants as the direct result of the criminal negligence of Dr Eric Todd Trehus.
Not only did Trehus not do anything when he should have but he ENCOURAGED me to work and be active and never gave me any limits as to what NOT to do so I would not get injured worse. This is why on my mother's 60th birthday party I helped move a very heavy picnic table at Elm Creek Park and ended up feeling like an alligator had bit into me. Literally from my ear to the point where the shoulder becomes the arm. I could not turn my head left at all the next day. I made another Dr appointment.
Trehus missed multiple diagnoses with me all the while telling me I would get better and cashing his paycheck regularly.
And to anyone reading this. Do not ignore your pain even if a dr says to. Whether or not you or a dr knows the cause of it IT IS REAL and it does require TREAMENT. And once on those strong pain meds make sure you understand your limits as what not to do to get further injured because drs will never care about you like you care about you. They do not have to live in your body the rest of your life like you do.
