This man should not be allowed to practice dentistry. He is very unprofessional and a crook. I went to him because I had seen his ads and learned from a friend that he accepted medicaid. His secretary called to me less than 20 minutes prior to my first appointment (while I was already en route to his office) to say that 'something came up' and the doctor had to cancel. When I finally did see him he barely touched me and basically took a set of x-rays, lying to me about the type of x-ray equipment he used. I needed a 'flipper,' which I would have to pay for out of pocket as it was not covered my Medicaid. His price was $1200. which I assumed was a fair price since he was a Medicaid dentist. I was a little taken back when he told me it would take 2 weeks for me to get it, as he used a lab in California. He took the impressions and I gave him a $600 deposit on a credit card, as the card had a $1000 limit and I could not charge it all in one month. The balance was to be paid when I picked up the flipper. His assistant phoned me a week later. I thought it was to tell me that it came in early, but she called to tell me the lab had lost my impressions and I would have to come in and start the process over again! I asked how such a thing could happen and she told me to ask the lab, not her, but then she wouldn't give me the name or number of the lab! After my initial experience, the lies about the x-ray equipment and now this foul up, I told her to forget it and give me back my deposit. The doctor refused, tying up my credit card and forcing me to have to wait almost a month before I could afford to see another dentist (Dr. Harold Efron, an excellent dentist, recommended by friends) to get my flipper. Dr. Efron, who does not accept Medicaid, charged me only $450 for the same thing Agranat was charging $1200 for! Be wary of any dentist that runs full-page ads featuring a 10-year-old picture of himself. |
