Breast Cancer Patients of Southeastern Florida beware of Marla Dudak's consultation/treatment policy. Marla Dudak's name was provided to me by the Lynn Regional Cancer Center of Boca Raton as the only female breast cancer surgeon they recommend, so I made an appointment with her several weeks ago. I flew from Phila., PA., to Fl for the appointment. I brought with me 7 years of b/c treatment records from the PA facilities where I have been treated since 2000. When I arrived at Dr. Dudak's office in Boca Raton, FL. for a scheduled appointment accompanied by a palpable lump in my right breast along with the possibility of an invasive b/c reoccurrence, Dr. Dudak's receptionist told me Dr. Dudak refuses to see patients who bring DVDs of their MRIs and ultrasounds rather films because Dr. Dudak only wants films not images on DVDs. Dr. Dudak won't see anyone who doesn't have their films with them. Films were not provided to me by the imaging facilities, DVDs were along with almost 8 years of radiologists reports. Dr. Dudak's receptionist told me in a loud voice in front of a waiting room full of people that 'the doctor refuses to see anyone who does not have films with them.' I suggested I could have the films sent at a later date. The receptionist refused that suggestion as unacceptable. When I asked her to confirm that I was being refused to be seen by Dr.l Dudak after scheduling the appointment as well as access to treatment, I was given an emphatic 'Yes!' I was not turned away because I could not pay the fee for services nor because I didn't have health insurance, but was denied access by Dr. Dudak's receptionist because Dr. Dudak does not see b/c patients who bring their MRI and ultrasound images in DVD form rather than in X-ray film form. |
