I really hurt my back several years ago, while in my early forties. My long time and trusted family physician ordered an x-ray and MRI. He decided the degree of my spinal damage required expertise beyond his capability. He referred me to Dr. Burdine, who he promised was the best spinal expert in the state of LA.
I have disc damage and spinal arthritis that cause me a good deal of pain. Sitting or standing for even a short/medium period of time cause absolute excruciating pain. Fortunately Dr. Burdine has a number of minimally invasive techniques that have really helped manage my problem. I still require some pain medication, but my primary treatments are cortisone shots and facet joint neurotomy. The medication would not alone manage my pain.
Even though I moved to Texas two years ago, I still go back to Doctor Burdine for my cortisone shots and facet joint injections. I have numerous personal friends that are physicians (both in Baton Rouge and even Houston) and they've told me that Dr. Burdine is the best pain management physician in the Gulf Coast region. They are correct as best I can tell.
