Dr. Holbrook carefully reviewed my husbands' scans after other oncologists had told my husband his liver tumor was inoperable. Dr. Holbrook took his time in discussing why he thought surgery was worth pursuing. He did not promise a cure; he offered to remove the tumor if he could and to not continue the surgery if cancer appeared to have spread. The operation took five hours; my husband took six months to recover his energy and is still alive today. We commend Dr. Holbrook for his attentiveness, gutsiness, and expertise. When other oncologists quickly said 'this is inoperable,' Dr. Holbrook examined the details and gave his best, educated opinion, that the surgery was a risk worth taken if my husband was willing to try it. |
