After visiting her regular dentist, my daughter age 19, was referred to an oral surgeon and went immediately with X-rays in hand. She had an impacted wisdom tooth. I was not present, but spoke to the staff by phone several times. I was assured they accepted our insurance, While I spoke to the receptionist my daughter was filling out the standard forms. It was a Saturday, and I wasn't getting enough info on coverage, so I said emphatically 'Don't do anything, lets wait until Monday. I need to know about coverage. We have in network doctors. Please give her something for the discomfort and send her home.

By the third phone conversation, I was told 'Everything will be fine, don't worry.' X-rays were taken and the tooth was extracted without my consent. Fees were not discussed beforehand, because I said no to the surgery. My daughter is legally an adult and they used that fact to ignore me.

My husband went to pick up our daughter and was harassed by the office staff and the doctor himself for the full payment. My husband did not make a payment and told them to bill our insurance company.

Most importantly, my daughter noted on the form, and my husband reiterated the fact, that she is allergic to codeine. She was indeed given a prescription for codeine and if we didn't check with the pharmacy, we could have had a problem.

No one from the office ever called to check on my daughter. One week went by before I found out our insurance was not accepted and the cost of the surgery.

We were misled and misinformed. Total deception from the office staff.

PLEASE BE WARY--- of Warren Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Center, Warren NJ and Dr. Daniel Sullivan. Know your facts before you enter the office, or you may end up with an inflated bill not covered by insurance, Xrays that are not needed and watch the prescriptions.
