Not given My experiences with the Newport Beach Dental Association are by far the worst experiences I've ever had with a dental office. I was assigned this dentist by my insurance company yet the dentist refused to accept my insurance to cover the work that needed to be done to my teeth. The dental office told me that I would have to pay out of pocket. I called the insurance myself to verify that my composite fillings and porcelain enlays were covered and the insurance people confirmed that they were. So I went back to the dentist and right before they were going to do work on me, the rude secretary comes in and says "your insurance is on the phone". The insurance lady tells me that she's never encountered a dentist like this before - but the dentist was actually REFUSING to accept my insurance! I guess the dentist wasn't going to be making enough money off of me with my insurance. I warn everybody to stay far away from the Newport Beach Dental Association (1501 Superior Ave., Ste. #100 Newport Beach, 92663). All they care about is making money. They do not care about their patients.

I had a very similar experience at this dental office. They quoted extremely high prices for two cavities (which I considered to be routine type service) if I wanted the non-metallic fillings. I checked with the insurance company and they said they covered it like 80%. When I questioned the dental office, they said the insurance company doesn't cover it. I checked again with the insurance company and figured out that they do cover it. Essentially the dental office was going to overcharge me about $400 for two cavities and some other 'maintenance' type procedure. I am trying to get a new dentist at the moment. I don't know what's going on in this office but it doesn't smell right. Also, the hygenist who cleaned my teeth was very unprofessional. She clearly had a cold and was coughing all over. She also did a very poor job of taking x-rays as she kept causing me a lot of pain in the process.
