2007 |
Although whoever answers the phone in Dr Ligenza's office is abrupt and rude, the doctor herself is gentle and willing to take time with you when you can get an appointment, and a pleasant doctor when you are feeling well. But, I have now had two instances where I was forced to go to an emergency room because she was unable to see me when I was sick. The first was in 2003, when I called her office in the morning to say that I had a high fever, cough and chest pain with each breath. Instead of making time to see me, her office instead told me to drive 45 minutes to the emergency room, where I found out I had pneumonia. This week my 9 year old daughter had strep. When I came down with a fever, headache and stomach pain, I called the office asking for a strep test (again during the morning hours), and was told I could come in two days later. As these are the only two occasions when I have actually contacted the doctor because of an illness (and not just for a routine checkup), her batting average is .000. I'm fairly young and healthy now, but this would be downright scary if I was elderly or more prone to sickness. I will be looking for another physician. |

I believe that the comments from Jelly need to be explained. First she is correct that Dr. Ligenza's office is quite busy BUT that is because she is an excellent and caring physician. Many patients have left the other GP in the pavillion to see Ligenza which adds to her patient load. Many times I too have been told the first time that she can see me is in a few days, however, half as many times she also called to see if I could show up BEFORE the office opened so that she could try and fit me in. I believe that Jelly should have driven straight to the hospital with those conditions if Ligenza was too booked. I mean what do you expect her to do...create more hours in a day??
Dr. Ligenza is a great asset to this small community and I for one am happy to call he my doctor.
