The doctor himself deserves a '10' rating.  Dr. Castro is a top notch physician, who goes out of his way to see that his patients get good care.  He has often gone above and beyond the usual 'job' description, for example, he helped me to get health insurance by writing a letter and doing the proper tests to  correct a misdiagnosis from another doctor that had prevented me from getting health insurance. I have referred several patients to him, and no one has been disappointed in the care that he gave them.  Excellent physician and I highly recommend him.  I neglected to mention that Dr. Castro is an internist, i.e. internal medicine specialist.

NOTE: Dr. Castro is no longer with Winter Park Internal Medicine.  I have opted to stay with another doctor in the same practice since Dr. Castro has gone to a 'concierge' style practice, meaning that one must pay  a fee of $2500 annually  in order to 'join' and have him as your doctor. While I am grateful to Dr. Castro for the good care that we received over the years, unless one is making frequent visits to the doctor and has unlimited funds to pay for same, it is not cost effective for many of us.

   I must add that I was very disappointed that my husband and I, who are long standing (over sixteen years) patients of Dr. Castro's, were not notified either verbally or in writing,  that Dr. Castro would be leaving the Winter Park Internal Medicine Group.   Therefore, I have changed Dr. Castro's rating from a 10 to a 9, as  it is my opinion that this was unprofessional and uncaring of him to have negelected to notify ALL of his patients that he would be leaving the practice, especially those with ongoing health problems that he was monitoring at the time of his departure.

For those who wish to decide whether or not this type of a system is something in which they would be interested, here is Dr. Castro's website.  He is an excellent doctor, and if you can afford the extra $2500 per year and make frequent doctor visits,  I am sure that the care you receive will  be excellent.  Please be sure to look at the FAQ, as this fee must be paid annually, and you are still responsible for your co-pays, any tests that must be run, etc.
