I would rate Dr. Reibel as one of the most inept, uncaring physicians (otolaryngology surgeon) that I have ever encountered... Inept at communication as well as being a mentor for the residents and interns that he works with. After under going a modified radical neck disection for cancer with an unknown primary which had supposedly metastasized to a neck lymph node, I learned that I only had an infection. Not only was the diagnosis wrong, the surgery was botched by him and the residents under his supervision. After not responding to calls regarding the pathology results, Dr. Reibel or the residents did not take time to sit down and talk to me or give any explanation that made sense. I was treated very badly and it was implied that I was ungrateful to them. I am now permanently disabled due to spinal accessory nerve damage, muscle, ligament, connective tissue damage and other complications and live with chronic pain 24/ 7. This is only a small part of my experience with this doctor. If anyone is considering treatment at this hospital by this surgeon, I would definitely be skeptical and seek other opinions. This medical facility and otolaryngology department is highly rated in the nation so I felt that I was fortunate to live in a neighboring city. What a shock! Everything that I have written is based on truth and is currently under investigation by The Virginia State Health Department.
