My daughter was inpatient. Dr. Saper was wonderful on our first day, but after that he showed his true colors. If he did not like what you had to say, the personal attacks began; this dr rules by intimidation. He attacked my daughter for being shy - she is naturally shy, but when this guy is 'putting you in your place' in front of 10-12 of his staff of other nurses, drs, psychologists, it is quite intimidating, compounded by the fact the child is in pain and several thousand miles from home. I could see him for what he was - he could take no constructive criticism of his program, but my poor daughter... after only 10 days, they decided they had tried everything they could, and sent her on her way with only a worthless muscle relaxer and her head pain as bad as when she was admitted. There was nothing about the program geared for teens. Also, at the Center we were assured a PT program would be written at the hospital for her PT here at home for handling the neck but when we asked about it, we were told we had to return to the Center for that?!?? A few of the nurses were really good, more were not - late with meds all the time, throwing schedules off, causing doses to be deleted entirely. It is affiliated with a very small town community hospital so high level of medical care is not available and should it be needed for some reason, transport is necessary by ambulance. Just a side note - the cafeteria food was awful and not what I call healthy; many, many days I ended up microwaving organic burrito or something for my daughter with fruit and carrots and even supplementing, I lost 5 lbs I did not need to lose for lack of decent food. One last but important thing - they boast about a 75-80 % success rate but I can tell you while we were there it was the opposite - we saw at least 10 people discharged and only two that I know of left feeling better. P.S. Some patients did not care for him, but I found Dr. Rosen competent, open-minded and preferable to Dr. Saper. |
