I was recommended by my Dentist L. Lozover to Dr. JULIA ABEND OF: SHEEPSHEADBAY ORAL SURGERY, PLLC.  I arrived for my appointment about 10 minutes early and was given documents to fill out. 

The FIRST PROBLEM was that she wanted me to sign a privacy act form and they stated on the form that they were going to provide a copy to me.  She had no such document to provide. 

The SECOND PROBLEM was that I provided her with a signed check made out to her without an ammount entered.  The receptionist stated that they do not except checks.  She asked me for a credit card.  I told her that I did not have one with me.  When I called for an oppointment, I was never informed of this policy.

The THIRD PROBLEM was that Dr J. Abend wanted to take a panorama exray of my mouth.  She stated the exray was not covered by my insurance because I had one within the 3 year alloted time period.  The tooth that I was supposed to be removed was the last tooth on the bottom row.  There are no other teeth surrounding the tooth, either upper or lower.  The tooth was not near any other teeth.  I was going to subjected to an unnecessary exray which I had two weeks ago at the dentist.  She gave me some double talk about needing the exray because of other teeth that my be in conflict with the tooth that was going to be removed.  I protested and she stated that it is impossible to extract the tooth without the expensive exrays.  She declined to remove the tooth.  I then requested all the forms which I signed including my insurance claim form.  She stated that now this is office records. I informed her that she did not do anything for me and wanted everything back.  She proceeded to hand me back the forms.  I got up and walked out of the exam room and she followed me into the waiting room where she yelled out YOU ARE A JERK in front of all the waiting patients.

The surgeons actions were totally unprofessional. This is why we pay so much for insurance coverage..........
