Not given My husband and I have a child who was diagnosed in November with Type 1 diabetes.  We took him to a pediatrician in South Bend in December because she was referred to us by the doctor here who took care of our son while he was in the hospital.  The doctor is Anna Simpson-O'Reggio and we were told she was pro insulin pump.  We want our son to have an insulin pump.  He takes nine injections daily, so we are simulating an insulin pump with that many injections.  Our insurance company denied our request for a pump, so we appealed.  I told Dr. Simpson (December 18th) we only had 10 days to get the information to the insurance.  She did not get it to them in time, as she told me she would.  My husband faxed the denial letter from the insurance to Dr. Simpson December 19th.  January 2nd we received word from our insurance that they would extend the deadline for a doctor there to speak to Dr. Simpson.  My husband has called Dr. Simpson countless times and she has not returned his calls and she has not spoken to anyone at our insurance company about the pump for our son.  We have verified this with our insurance.  January 16th I e-mailed the diabetes educator (Noreen Mackiewicz) from Dr. Simpson's office and told her the situation and asked what she suggested we do.  She seemed helpful and interested at first, but then sent an e-mail to me yesterday stating that what it looked like to her was that it was a very busy time.  She was vague in her explanation and I e-mailed her immediately and asked if the doctor had contacted our insurance.  I've received no reply at all.  My husband and I are very upset that the doctor we paid to help our son has totally left us hanging.   We now have to start over and find a different doctor.  We feel that Dr. Simpson needs to answer for this neglect and disrespect.  My husband also called to get our son's medical records from their office since the doctor is too 'busy' to return and make important calls.  He was on hold for a long time and then faxed a letter asking for the records.  We've received no reply on that either.
