After waiting for three hours in the waiting room, I was finally taken back to a smaller room.  While waiting in this room I could overhear Dr. Paez speaking to a coworker, he said, verbatim 'my time is precious, I will bill them or if I can't I will bill their insurance company.'  He said all of this in a serious, irritating voice.  Finally, the doctor entered the room, I had just broken two bones in my foot, and was in a wheelchair.  He approached me, without introduction, and rudely began interogating me, that is asking me question after question about all other medications I was on.  If that wasn't bad enough, this pompous jerk asked me to submit a urine specimin before prescribing me any medicine.  I was appalled, and left the office never to return.  I have been to myriad doctors, because I have a nerve disorder, but never have I encountered one with such a horrible bedside manner.  This doctor has no business practicing medicine, or engaging with other human beings on any level.  I am a somewhat shy, sweet natured person; It is seldom that anyone angers me.  I do hate that the insurance companies have these doctors so scared that they seemingly cannot do their jobs, but If I could I would sue this so called 'professional' and make sure he never practices medicine again.  If you are reading this, please find a different doctor, any other pain specialist/anastesiologist.  This guy's ego is larger than his capacity to treat patients with any respect at all.  Dr. Julio Paez of the South Lake Pain Institute should no longer practice medicine in this lifetime!

Pain management doctors have to be very careful who they prescribe medications to ever since the DEA started treating them like drug dealers.  If a person is already on narcotics, there has to be documented medical need to prescribe more or change current medications.  Urine drug screens are generally requested to show compliance with current medications.  If you are a patient currently looking for a physician to write narcotics for you, maybe this practice is not for you.  Drug seeking behavior is very common in pain management practices and the physicians have to be very careful not to loose their license because they prescribed medications to an addict.  It seems that this doctor offended you a little too much since your entire complaint is regarding his asking about YOUR medications!!  Physicians are not scared of the insurance companies, they are scared of the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Department of Health.  These doctors spend half their life in school and training just to loose their ability to treat patients based on prescribing a medication to a drug seeking patient.
