Not given I'll try to be a little more constructive and balanced than the other neg commentors. I've experienced positives, negatives, and a couple idiosyncrasies that might irk some. Remember, a great doctor to one isn't a great doctor to all. My comments are limited to my own experiences, and my aim is to help you decide whether his approach is a good fit for you.

First the positives... I actually like his more casual approach. A tie does not a good doctor make. Admittedly, that may be a generational thing. If you need to see a white coat and stethoscope to trust your doc, he's not your guy. I love that they test blood and urine right there at the office. The nursing staff is kind and professional, especially the woman who handles referrals.

Now the negatives... I too wait too long both in the reception area and again in the examination room when I have a scheduled appointment. Usually 20-30 minutes in each place. I've had issues getting messages returned, and know another patient who suffered a morning of misery before getting a simple prescription filled. That's anecdotal, and may  be a rare occurrence, but it's worth mentioning. I also can't disagree with the other commenter that Dr. Wiedner's 'beside manner' can come off as smug. He can seem impatient, though he is never rude. I feel sometimes like he diagnoses me quickly after I relate a few symptoms, rather than reserving judgment until all the facts are in. That's just a perception; whether or not that's the reality I can't say. My personal preference (again, possibly generational) is for my doctor to be a partner in my health decisions, not an all-knowing healer who tells me what's best. If you like to take time discussing a variety of treatment options, Dr. Wiedner may not be a good fit.

There are two minor (but real) points of annoyance for me. First, it's great that Dr. Wiedner has voice-recognition software on his computer to help him organize patient histories and enter diagnoses and treatment advice. I'm chronically disorganized, so I can't object wholeheartedly to a system that seems to work for him. That said, it's obnoxious to hear him dictate all your medical information to the machine, going back to correct errors and modify data while you're sitting there in your knickers.

'35-year-old male presents with acute bilateral hydrocephaloma...         symptoms include rash on hands, unexplained weight loss, bags
under eyes. stop. new paragraph. recommend 5 mg. stop. clear data.
    10 mg.'

To hear your health history so clinically summarized is off-putting, and I'm never sure what to do while he's talking. It's kind of like a principal reading aloud your 'permanent record' while you sit there with your dunce cap on, staring at your lap. Maybe I'm nit-picking, but it annoys the hell out of me. Can that happen when I leave?

Second, and perhaps this is petty, but I lean left on the political spectrum, and every time I go to the office, Fox News is on. It is a heavily Republican community, but my blood boils as I listen to their 'reporters' bemoan the left-wing conspiracy of the day. Given the amount of time I spend waiting, at least give me CNN or something innocuous like TODAY.  Democrat or Republican, you gotta love that Matt Lauer.

Hope this helps.
