Brad Elkins is a poor diagnostician and becomes upset if you ask too many questions, most of which he answers by saying 'Don't worry about it,' instead of providing an explanation. Brad Elkins diagnosed me with dry eye but did not inform me. Brad Elkins also did not diagnose my blepharitis, meibomian gland dysfunction, rosacea, and uncoordinated eye muscles, requiring prescription of prism lenses. Brad Elkins advised me to have LASIK despite these prevailing conditions, which guaranteed post-LASIK dry eye complications. In addition, Brad Elkins dilated my eyes immediately prior to surgery, which was contrary to FDA-approved VISX protocol. Brad Elkins performed an off-label refractive surgery on me without proper consent and decentered the treatment on BOTH eyes. His poor judgment and unconscientious actions resulted in serious eye damage, including visual distortion. A medical expert witness who reviewed my records, as well as experts at VISX, characterized the procedure performed on me by Brad Elkins as 'sloppy medicine.' After my surgery, he seemed to imply that something inherent to my physiology was to blame for the poor outcome rather than his careless judgment. Brad Elkins would not offer any useful explanation for my outcome, yet attempted to push me into having additional surgery to correct the problem, and become angry when I refused. In fact, he said that I 'would be crazy' not to allow him a chance at surgically fixing the problem. On the contrary, I would consider myself crazy if I let him ever touch my eyes again, espeically since he seemingly had no understanding of how the damage occurred the first time. I could never recommend Brad Elkins and suggest that you look elsewhere for a comprehensive ophthalmologist and especially took elsewhere for a surgeon.
