I found Dr. Mesko to be rude, sarcastic, and uninterested in my questions concerning joint replacement surgery. Each of my four questions regarding surgery was answered with a sarcastic non-answer. Example - What will I be able to do after surgery (referring to activities)? Answer: What can you do now? What type of implant will you use? Answer - Either metal or ceramic (there are no other choices, and the implant used does make a difference in young, active patients). Dr. Mesko wanted to perform surgery, but his inability to correctly diagnose what four other orthopedists had diagnosed (developmental hip dysplasia and labral tear) totally eroded my trust and confidence in him. Concerning the surgery Dr. Mesko wanted to schedule, he stated that he would put me on his cancellation list. I left his office not knowing when or where the surgery would be performed, and not knowing anything about the surgery he intended to perform. I elected to go elsewhere.

I'm in need of a knee replacement and have been researching doctors in the Lansing area. I came across your post and am concerned because I had almost decided upon seeing Dr. Mesko. I've had so many aweful experiences with doctor's that I'm leery of every single one of them. Was your poor experience with him ongoing or had all this happened during the course of one visit?
