Drs. Altman and Bloss were the third practice that I went to during my pregnancy and I liked them MUCH better than the other two (Dr. Kelty; Drs. Niaz and Makarachi). In fact, I would DEFINITELY go back to Altman and Bloss if I get pregnant again. I wasn't as fond of their nurse midwife, but it could have been caused by the fact that I didn't have enough time to develop a good relationship with her since I was so late in my pregnancy when I switched practices for the last time. Appointments often ran late, but I didn't mind because they always gave me plenty of time. For example, my first appointment with Dr. Altman lasted about an hour and Dr. Bloss made room in his schedule twice for me to 'drop in' when I was worried about the baby having suddenly turned breech after three months of being in the right position. He also turned the baby (external version) with a hands-on approach that I have only seen (and heard of) from good midwives. Dr. Bloss wasn't 'married' to technology as a substitute for human touch. I would characterize their practice as being extremely competent, yet also non-authoritative. They were very open to my attempt to use alternative therapies such as echinacea and extra garlic to get rid of a Group B Strep colonization and repeated the test for it three times at my request (the third test was negative so I had gotten rid of it just a few days prior to delivery). They are also very 'with' the times, having a website from which one can request and confirm appointments, as well as ask questions. See www.jeffreyaltmanmdpc.medem.com/cbloss .
