2003-2007 We were referred to Dr. Goldie after our 6 month old daughter was experiencing some abnormal body gestures that no one could diagnose.  Immediately Dr. Goldie knew that there was something wrong.  He ordered a few tests, did a few blood draws and within 2 weeks he diagnosed her with terminal neurological disease.  He immediately teamed up with our pediatrician to insure our child the best medical care while encouraging us to always keep in mind how to give her the most dignified life given the circumstances.  Dr. Goldie does not have the best bedside manner!  He without hesitation and rather coldly said 'your daughter is going to die'.  I have to say I was shocked by his bluntness and obviously by the news itself.  But if you had to see what he's seen day in and day out you wouldn't either.  He see's children mistreated and literally neglected.  He sees and devotes his life to children who often do not have parents who can affectively care for their own children.  Many of his patients receive Medical, which explains why his facility is lacking in the most up to date medical equipment.  Dr. Goldie is by far THE BEST pediatric neurologist around.  I know I've seen more than one.  If I had to give advice to a patient who is considering going to Dr. Goldie it would be  1. are you going to have someone candy coat the prognosis and care of you or your family?  Then Dr. Goldie is not for you.  2.  Are you considering going to Dr. Goldie for the most honest, upfront, knowledgeable care that you can receive in California or maybe even in the U.S?  Then Dr. Goldie is for you.  You will never be guessing with Dr. Goldie.  Look past his bedside manner and look for the knowledge of neurological care that he without a doubt is equipped with.  After all that's what you are there for.  As far as his staff is concerned;  I grew to love everyone of them.  They embraced our family and genuinely cared about us.  Did we have to wait, yes.  Dr. Goldie has a waiting list for 6 months to see him.  We booked all of our appts 6 months in advance.  On the rare occasion we had to see him sooner we had to wait. If you want THE BEST you have to wait sometimes.  I read in one of the comments that the patient had to wait and Dr. Goldie didn't even apologize.  I learned that on the few occasions I had to wait it was because Dr. Goldie was tied up in surgery operating on a childs brain for one reason or another.  Did I expect him to apologize to me?  Rather I should be apologizing to him and thanking him for all he does for all of our children.  We all need to remember to never judge a man until we walk a mile in shoes.  I can tell you with all certainty Dr. Goldie has paved a walkway with many miles walked from his office to the surgery room across the street for a child he cared about just because they were a human being.  If you are in the circumstance of seeking neurological care I strongly encourage you to give Dr. Goldie a chance.  Once you build a relationship with him and he with you, you can't help but respect this wonderful Dr. for everything he can be for you or your loved one.   Truthfully, Jacquie's Mommy.
