I do not have dental insurance and was carefully examining the costs of various dentist since I am new to town and had to find a new dentist. In contacting Dr. Damascus' office, I was explicitly told that the cost of a cleaning and check up was $65. I had explained that I would be a new patient. After my appointment, I was billed $130 for the 'check up' and a similar amount for the 'cleaning.' I paid the bill as I was in a rush that day, assuming a quick call back could resolve the issue. When I called back, I was told that check ups and cleanings are separate and that check ups are normally $65 but are $130 for the first visit. When I explained that I had been given absolutely incorrect information, the assistant acknowledged it but the office was unwilling to correct the erroneous billing. After repeated attempts, I had to give up. I feel that they owe me the difference back and that they are misrepresenting their services/prices.
