2004 |
When my cat, Trouble, had problems with bladder stone in 2004 and had additional problems after surgery to remove them, we thought he would need to be put to sleep. Dr. Russon performed a second surgery which gave Trouble 2 more good, happy years. Dr. Russon was patient when explaining treatments for Trouble to my family and provided him with the absolute best care he could possibly have had. When Trouble got a bladder infection in April 2006, Dr. Russon put him in the hospital for a few days and he bounced back. Trouble got another bladder infection in early November, but did not survive. Dr. Russon was very kind to us when he spoke to us about Trouble's death. He genuinely felt that he could help him and did not needlessly prolong suffering. Dr. Russon was on duty the weekend that Trouble died and I know that he took the best care in the world of Trouble. After Trouble died (he was nearly 14), my family adopted two kittens, twin brothers we named Shadow and Smokey. Shadow and Smokey have seen only one veterinarian...Dr. Russon and we plan to keep it that way. Dr. Russon would never endanger an animal with unnecessary care, nor would he allow a person to believe that their pet was sicker than they actually are or that they will recover when he knows that they can't. When he did Trouble's second surgery, prior to the surgery, he told us that if it didn't look like they would be able to help him, that they would put him to sleep under anesthesia to prevent unnecessary suffering. It is 100% obvious that Dr. Russon loves all animals. He has taken whatever time we need to explain things to us when we've had Shadow and Smokey in for their checkups and vaccinations, right down to possible reasons that Shadow had diarhea and whether or not it was something to worry about...in Shadow's case, he still had some worms and a second de-worming treatment resolved the problem. Dr. Russon has a fabulous bedside manner with both his animal patients and their human companions. You can tell when a person truly loves their job and in my opinion, a veterinarian SHOULD love his job. Dr. Russon adores animals and loves helping them. He has always treated us with respect and has never given us a reason not to trust his judgment. I would (and have) recommend Dr. Russon to anyone who is seeking a veterinarian for a sick pet, a new pet, or just wants to have a checkup for their pet. The people at Cumberland Valley are fabulous, kind and attentive and they adore their animal patients.
