2007 Dr. Burchman is an excellent and extremely knowledgable veterinarian.  He is top knotch in his field, offering an amazingly educated and informed  insight into your pet's health problems, their possible causes and various solutions.

He offers very reasonable rates for his veterinary care, which is much needed for Bronx resident's, many of whom are on public assistance, disabiltiy or are the working poor. His reasonable rates make it possible for pets owned by the poor to receive adequated veterinary care. His practice has been here for well over 20 years ( I believe), and he is one of the veterianarians that are not in it for the money.

As his rates are very reasonable and I feel this is done on purpose to bring health care to the poor's pets, and as a result, his office is almost always packed to the brim, often with petowners waiting outside the office to be seen. These rates came in very handy when I needed my pets to be vetted, as I was once on public assistance and now am part of the working poor. Sometimes, my cat and I hardly had food to eat, a few days a year we ate nothing, some richer fold would say give her to a better home, but through thick and thin, several near evictions, phone shut-offs and Con Ed turn-offs, we stuck together till she passed away at age 20. She had a great home and I saved her life after she was thrown down an elevator shaft as I kitten.

Dr. Burchman is a vet that just about the poorest could scrape up the cash to get their animal vetted. He services a very low income area and the pets in that community need a Vet like Dr. Burchman who is not money hungry but is dedicated to helping the poor's pets.

One time, when Tabby had an ear infection and his office was closed, someone recommended another vet. Boy was I sorry. He charged me $200.00 for an ear infection. About 10 years later, I took in a rescue who had an ear infection, brought him to Dr. Burchman and with the physical included, it cost $50.00 to treat the cat. Very affordable rates.

As the office is from opening till close almost always packed, it gets a little diry. It could be on the cleaner side. Sometimes Dr. Burchman is too busy to see you and your pet has to be seen by one of the other vets. I have found that one vet in particular has a very uncompassionate nature, the blonde woman vet. I did not like how she spoke to me when my cat had an emergency recently.

My cat had stones, could not urinate, and if it had gone on too long, the bladder could burst. This ailment can kill a cat. I was there first thing in the morning as a walk in and only 4 walk ins were ahead of me. As soon as this lady vet came in, I told her of my cat's problem, if he could be seen right away. She said it was okay, to let the staff know. After about a half hour, she begins calling in other walk-ins. After 1 hour and 15 minutes, I ask her again if she can see my cat right away, and she screams at me ' Are you going to pay the $75.00 emegency fee to jump ahead of the other people? Do you want the pay the extra $75.00 now?'

I told her I did as she and instructed and informed the staff of his emergency and that it was okay for him to be seen right away. She just took another client and had me wait longer. Another vet heard the commotion and called me in. After seeing my cat's condition he asked me why was this cat had not been seen sooner. Thank God my cat is doing better now.

Dr. Burchman is a very good vet, but as he is extremely busy, oftentimes who have to see one of the other vets. Most are good, but that blonde vet. My friend had brought his dog there recently and his dog was treated by her and he also complained about her uncompassionate demeanor. I think her attitude is a bad reflection on this reputable veterinary hospital. Try to have your pet seen by Dr. Burchman.
