Not given To Whom It May Concern, In June of 2005, I went to see Dr. James H Acker, MD of Ormond Beach, Florida regarding a problem that I was having with my knee. After a thorough examination and tests, he told me that I had a medial meniscus tear. I was told that surgery was necessary. I was also told that 3-4 weeks after surgery that I would be as good as new. After the surgery, Dr. Acker never bothered to call to see how I was doing. Ten days after surgery I went in for my post operative check up. He told me I was doing fine. From that point on I was treated very unprofessionally. The office had caller ID, and when I would call they would not answer the phone. I would immediately call back on my cell phone and the phone was answered right away. Every time I would go in for my follow up visits and I would ask why it was taking so long for me to get better and his response was : “You are a slow healer.” This went on until December 19, 2005 when I went in for my final visit. At that point the told me that I’d better find a job where I could sit down because my knee was never going to be right. It has been six months since my surgery and my knee still bothers me. I can not stand for long periods of time or walk long distances. I can not get down on my knees and work in my garden like I use to. The life I knew has been taken away from me and Dr. Acker did not have enough concern or compassion for my problem to try and determine why I still have terrible pain in my knee. I have never been treated so poorly by any physician or their staff. I feel that if I had had insurance that I would have been treated better, but because I was self pay I was treated like a second class citizen. Sincerely, Lynnette K. Perhaps the reason that you recieved this kind of treatment was that you were a difficult patient. The doctor is not at fault #1 for your body or your healing type. #2 I'm sure he did all he could do for you on it. Lesson learned? Don't be retarded and hurt your knee so bad that a physician can't fix it. Thanks.
