2004 Dr. Deason allows his staff to put crowns on and does not check their work. On tooth 31, the employee cut my gums and got cement into the gum line and it traveled into the wisdom tooth pocket creating an infecton. Dr. Deason blew me off for three months as I complained of extreme pain. He finally sent me to a surgeon who had to open up the gums to get the cement out. He stitched up the gums and the jaw. Tooth 30 had a crown put on by the employee. She was very rough and did not get the bite right. The tooth above and tooth 30 were constantly hitting. My jaw hurt all the time. Dr. Deason blew me off again and charged me several hundred dollars for a bite guard that I could have bought at a sport store for $20.00. The new crown on tooth 30 broke in half while eating scrambled eggs a few months later.. I went to a new dentist. The tooth had two root fractures and was badly infected. My face was swollen. I lost that tooth. It had to be surgically removed. The pain was extreme. I thought I was going to die. Dr. Deason does not care about his work or his patient. He caused me undo pain and sufferring. He would never discuss this with me for fear of being sued. I did not want to sue him, I wanted him to be a good doctor. It is clear that Dr. Deason is in business for the money. He does not care about the patient at all even when that patient has Multiple Sclerosis, as I do. Beware of this person, he will cause great physical pain.

I also went to Dr. Deason about 3 years ago. I had to have a temporary crown put on. He let his assistant do it, and it was apparent that she didn't have a lot of experience, as she dropped it on the floor 4 times! I don't feel that he should charge such exorbitant prices, yet let his clumsy assistants do his work.I am disabled,so when I had to call to reschedule an appt.,his receptionist began questioning me as to why was I doing this? If you want professionalism, don't go to Dr. Deason!

I used to work for Dr. Deason, and boy could I tell you some stories.....I truely believe the man is evil

He teaches seminars on how to make a million dollars a year off of dental insurance companies and patients...

He has no compassion what so ever for employees or patients.

He is the most compulsive person I have EVER met! He has lists for EVERYTHING in the office as to how they should be done and in what order. If you fail to do them in order, you'll get written up. The only time I got written up in the year I was there was for my white shoes not being white enough...

I know for a fact that he has been investigated several times for insurance fraud.

I know for a fact he charges patients for procedures that are not done. You are given an estimate before any work is performed, and you have to sign it. When the procedure is over, that is what you are charged, if thats what happened or not. The few times I changed the charges in the computer, I was yelled at by the receptionist and told to just send it up front that NO CHANGES ARE TO BE MADE. I have personally seen people be charged for whats called a post and core build up (goes under a crown if there isn't enough tooth to hold a crown) and once the orignal tooth is taken down and its discovered that the post and core are not needed the charges are not adjusted. The patient would never know this unless an x-ray is taken to show this as the post is metal and will show up on x-rays.

Every new patient is brought in for an exam, and then root planing. NOT EVERY PATIENT NEEDS ROOT PLANING!!!!!

He had 2 associates when I worked there, and they both could not leave fast enough! The are happily in their own practices now.

One of the other doctors there went thru the computer and found that over the last 5 years, Dr. Deason has had over 200 assistants!!!!

I would not let this man work on me if he were the last dentist around!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I became very good friends with several of his patients, young and old, and quit after I could not stand the thought of him charging them for procedures that he did not do, which is an every day occurance in his office. He's a very bad man.

As far as the 2 of you that left comments about him already, Dental Assistants are supposed to make temporary crowns and place them and adjust them. He's not wrong for letting them do that. He is wrong for hiring anyone off the street to do it that has not been properly trained, and for not coming back in and double checking their work. A good dental assistant should be able to do most jobs in the office. And a good dentist knows enough to always double check even his most trusted assistant.

To both of you, I'm sorry for your pain and suffering that he caused you.

After reviewing the previous write-ups, I am not the least bit surprised at any of them. I was given a very deadly (since been pulled off the market) called Serzone, which was black-boxed the same month I took it. My doctor did not care and laughed at me and the witness that I had with me in his room. My saliva glands began not working properly, my mouth stayed dried, and my teeth started becoming more and more brittle, drying out, and either breaking off at the gumline and/or wearing down to the gumline completely. When I had my consultation, they wanted nearly $40,000 up front to cap all of my teeth or $80,000 if I wanted to pay for one at a time (provisional crowns then permanent crowns!!). I could not afford but to do a little at the time. Over a period of a year or more, I made several visits and asked Dr. Deason and his staff multiple times what would be the best thing for me to do since my teeth were slowly withering away, becoming dry and brittle, and time was running out rapidly. I NEVER ONCE received a direct answer as to whether i should invest in having each tooth fixed or pursue denture or denture implants. THey would simply fix one (sometimes two) root canal procedure and place a temporary crown on them. Each and every time this happened, each tooth was from $1,500 to $3,000. I spent a total of over $12,000. To make it worse, every single crown came off the SAME NIGHT that I had it placed. Every time I went straight to the dentist office with a very polite and gentle attitude and they set an appointment, which I went to. Rather than fixing the bad crowns, they left the empty hulls of the teeth and did not once replace any of the crowns. They acted as if these errors were my fault -- and Dr. Deason's attack nurses are very good about blaming the patient  as they back off to avoid fixing their errors (bad crowns, broken crowns, etc). They even wanted me to bring one or two of the crowns in so that they could re-use them!! Talk about unsanitary!! And if they didnt stay in even for one day, why would they want to replace them again? To save money perhaps? That seems to be their main goal in life. With the thousands of dollars I payed for every short visit and seeing all the people coming in and out, I would not be the least bit surprised if he grossed  nearly or over $75,000 to $100,000 a day due to his visiting the patients (like me) for a VERY short time, running from room to room and not concentrating on one patient, then leaving his assistants to do and say his dirty work. After I spent over $10,000 , my teeth continued to hurt more, whither away down to the gumlines more, and some even broke off.  On top of this, the women who are running the front office in the reception area could very well pass a test to qualify as a female (or even a male!) prison guard. The ability to be nice and smile on my part phased them to no degree and all I received was sarcasm, hateful looks, and resentment that I was there, as if MY THOUSANDS of DOLLARS was not good enough for them.  Every dentist Ive ever been to was very open about discussing dental problems and options; however, this dentist simply quoted two EXTREME prices to either fix each tooth at one visit or to fix each tooth separately, first each tooth with a provisional crown and then each tooth with a permanent crown.  All the pain I have endured (and still am!) due to the seriousness of my teeth being damaged has escalated and I now do not have the means nor ability to come up with the kind of  $70,000 to $100,000 that he wants to fix the problems. I went to see a dental surgeon and he was shocked at what he was told took place at Dr. Deason's office. According to the surgeon, which is Dr. Hartley by the way and he is very polite, good-natured, well-priced, and honest, the condition of my teeth could easily have been fixed as though Dr. Deason stated; however, the dental surgeon assured me that due to the specific problems of drying up and becoming brittle, it would be a waste of every penny to do what Dr. Deason said.  Now I have to have major dental surgery and will be obtaining Dental Implants, which SHOULD have been told to me by Dr. Deason up front and I would have trusted him and gone from there. Instead, the more powerful, almighty dollar means far much more to him and his staff and as long as they get the money and perform a half-witted job (if not less!!!!), they couldn't care less if you walk out the door and every single tooth hurts AND falls out. Please take my word on this. Avoid this dentist at all cost. If you do not, you will most DEARLY pay  TREMENDOUSLY OUTRAGEOUS prices and will regret ever going to that office. I've learned that when you enter a doctor's office (dentist office in this example), if the desk staff treats you rudely or arrogantly, you should be prepared for at least most of the rest of the assistants running around the office treating you the same way. If you DO see the dentist for five minutes before he disappears to his MANY patients whom he is simultaneously working on all at the same time, beware of your own outcome and PLEASE question everything that is done ahead of time.

I used to work for Dr.Deason too! I agree with Snowbunny3114. Dr.Deason is very mean to his Assistants. He doesn't tread them nice and he doesn't seem to care for his patients at all. He truly seems care only for the money! It is very sad.

I want of thank all of you for your comments.
Not every doctor or dentist finishes top of his or her class and it's up to us to shop around for the best.
Deasons work was and is inferior, his compassion for patients was and is nonexistent.
My new dentist replaced Deasons faulty permanent crowns and was careful not to cause a relapse (MS) from treatment.
I hope the AMA finds out about Deason and stops him from hurting more people and defrauding more insurance companies.
Fraud ultimately comes out of our pockets when companies pass their losses on to the consumer.

Dr. Deason's office is clean professionally operated as a business. And like a business it maximizes profits and give bonuses to employees for keeping operating expenses low.
As you can read in a 1996 article, on CyberWeb/Dentist, Dr. Deason thinks of his medical practice as a 'game' played between patient, insurance company and his practice.
The game places the patient between him and the insurance company.
The way he does this is to give you an estimate of 'expected insurance payments' and blame the insurance companies when they don't pay.
He then bills your credit card # (that he got up front before the office would make an appointment) and then you, or I, have to try to figure out his convoluted billing procedures.
Don't worry the walletectomy hurts only as long as your credit card balance lasts.
If you go to the Deason practice expect: to pay up front for any treatment he will give minus the expected insurance. And then watch your credit card balance rise in a couple of weeks or maybe a month when the insurance company can't get an explanation of his billing codes.
Good luck
