Not given Overall, the staff come across as friendly and appear to genuinely care about your pet.  Then comes the visit and the PUSH is on for: wellness exams every 6 months, Fecal checks, Ear swab cultures, Teeth cleaning and lastly, CBC counts and other EXPENSIVE tests (so they can have a 'base-line' of what your animal's 'chemistry' is to later compare against should your animal become ill.)  This is in ADDITION to a regular visit to say, have your pet vaccinated and/or pick up your Heartworm or flea control meds.    I realize this is the 'wave' of the future for most Vets, but I spend more $$ on my animals' health care then I do on my own and I think this has all gotten out of control.  I had a dog who lived to be 24 and had all his teeth and never had a teeth cleaning!  It's now common knowledge that vaccinating EVERY year can cause more harm than good, hence the move towards a vaccine given every three instead.  The list goes on...  I'm simply tired of getting 'that look' which is meant to make me feel like I must not love my pet if I don't have all these 'extras' done.  Whatever happened to simply taking my animal in for shots, de-worming or when it's not feeling well?  I think Vets are going to loose a LOT of business with charging so much money for basic care and PUSHING all this additional care on their clients.  I, for one am going to keep on looking until I find someone who'll work 'with me' in figuring out the best care for my animal and not 'guilting' me into performing unnecessary testing so that they'll make more money.  Just my opinion but I'll tell you now, LOTS of people feel as I do and I hate to see what the backlash will be if people just stop going to their Vet because they can't afford to shell out a hundred bucks for one visit.
