2005 |
In October 2004 I had a total right knee replacement. I have RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy) a terrible and very painful nerve disease in my right leg and the decision to have the surgery was frightening. Dr. Thomas Roesener assured me he will cut with micro surgery a minimum amount of nerves. He talked with me about the best approach and the best prostheses he recommended was made in the USA. I have a 7.5 inches (19.5cm) long scar on my right leg and it was a great success. Dr. Thomas Roesener left his practice and joined the Core Institute of Research in the West Valley of Arizona before I had my second leg done. He assured me that without any changes the surgery will be the same on my left leg. After the surgery January 18, 2005 I found out I had a different prosthetic device made in the UK and a crooked scar almost twice as long (13.5 inches) or ( 34cm) as on my right leg. When I started to ask questions, my doctor disappeared into another State. I wrote him three letters, but he did not answer. I also wrote the Core Institute but they had changed their Vice President and their Manager: Fausta Bridges and they claim not to know anything and could not give (or did not want to give) me any information. I tried to contact the Del Webb Hospital and Dr. Barbara Fong, my Anesthesiologist who assisted Dr. Roesener because she studied RSD and has a great knowledge about this nerve disease, but I yet did not get any explanation. The obvious mistreatment and sloppiness of the surgery transferred RSD into my left leg and I have to suffer now twice as much because of this! I do not know any more what to do about it or who to contact. Basically, I would appreciate knowing: Why the second surgery differed so much from the first, why the change in prosthetic devices since my doctor assured me according to the X-Rays, that there would be the same outcome!
