I would not even begin to refer anyone I know to Hoffman Veterinary Clinic in Salem, Oregon.

I went to this clinic because the Doctors supposively had experience with caesarean section's on bulldog breeds. We are a hobby breeder and show kennel of French Bulldogs and needed someone who was familiar with the bulldog breed types special needs.

My bitch had been x-rayed at this clinic and we were informed that she had atleast 3 if not 4 puppies. We were also at a point she was ready to explode, and the doctor wanted us to hold off on taking her until Monday (it was Wednesday, and it would be an emergency if it happened on the weekend), we didn't want it to be so late that the babies were already in the canal.

We took her in again on Friday, because as experienced breeders we knew she was showing us the signs that she was ready. He again told us to hold off until Monday atleast. We went home, and called later that evening to try and get him to take her before he went home for the day. The Doctor refused and then followed through with saying 'My suggestion and professional opinion is to let her whelp the puppies naturally.'

Saturday Morning her water broke and we called the vet of a friend in Brownsville, Oregon. Her office was closed but she made herself available to us in this emergency. This was an hour drive but well worth it. It was a successful c-section and two puppies were born. She said there was no way there were even three. She also confirmed that if our bitch attempted to whelp these puppies naturally, both the puppies and her were sure to die in the process. The puppies were far to large to have been naturally birthed.

Hoffman Veterinary would have killed our girl and her babies. I will never recommend them, nor touch them with a 10 foot pole.
