Be prepared to wait 2-3 hours in the waiting room!! She never appologizes for the delay. If you decide to wait and finally get to see Dr. Pineda she is rude and not very interested in her patients. As soon as you walk in her office she begins to type in codes into her laptops (codes that serve to charge the insurance company). She will never return emails or calls but her answering machine gives you that as practically the only way to reach her. So pretty much, you might as well get another doctor that will be interested in you and will tell you test results in a timely maner (and tactfull manner: she told me I had a brain tumer just like that... and after more investigation it turned out to be a pituitary adenoma that is 99% benign). Good luck and my advice would be to try another doctor in the area.

My experience with Dr. Pineda is the complete opposite. I rate her a 10 (best). (1) I first went to see her to investigate my osteoporosis 3 years ago. I chose Dr. Pineda based on two referrals- one from a board certified internal medicine doctor at a private practice, and another recommendation from a board certified surgeon at the Washington Hospital Center. Both doctors independently recommended her to me because they said she was not only a good endocrinologist, but also a caring doctor who makes time for her patients. While Dr. Pineda was doing various tests to try to uncover the cause of my osteoporosis (male, 40's, no risk factors for osteoporosis) she suspected that I might also have diabetes (due to some other suspicious lab tests). She was right ! I am very grateful to Dr. Pineda for finding my diabetes early (through a glucose tolerance test), before I had notieceable symptoms or significant organ damage. At that point, I decided that Dr. Pineda would be my primary care doctor, as well as my endocrinologist. (2) Dr. Pineda has moved to her own office. She is no longer sharing offices with other doctors on Q street. The old Q street practice was very crowded space for sure. But, she is now in a very nice, modern medical suite on M Street ( 2440 M Street NW; Suite 712). Her office is very easy to get to from the Foggy Bottom Metro stop- a 10 minute walk or less. Her office staff is exceptional. (3) During the past 3 years, Dr. Pineda has always returned any phone messages I leave that very same day. I am amazed at the responsiveness and really appreciate that level of medical service. (4) Dr. Pineda does not rush me through a visit. She takes time to not only discuss medical results and how I physically feel, but is also interested in knowing how am I feeling emotionally. (5) I am very sorry about Pamela's diagnosis and how scary that must have been. I'm glad though that the type of tumor is 99% of the time benign.
